The photo-sharing social media site Instagram is trying a new feature: the ability for users to move posts around on their profile grid. Dubbed ‘Edit Grid’ and still in testing, the feature allows users to reorder their profile gallery regardless of when each post was originally shared.
This reflects Instagram’s larger strategy of giving users better control over their profiles. Not that long ago, Adam Mosseri, the company’s head, confirmed some of the new profile grid displays in place. The company is leaving old squares in favor of more vertical rectangular displays to accommodate today’s contentāmuch of it vertical, from photos to videos.

Other ways Instagram is checking is on ways that allow customization of a profile, such as the ability for users to pin specific posts to the top of a user’s profile. This will give users the choice to feature specific content that makes profiles look and feel more interesting and useful.
This relates to efforts made by Instagram on making the app adapt to shifting user preferences as well as increasing the ways that users can curate and personalize their profiles.
